Diesel Funkin' 10...yup!

i didn't refine any '10 fuel all throughout the month of January. for some odd reason i decided that i should lay off on the Refinery's production. seemed like a good idea at the time...

didn't work out...

i'm still organizing, but i'm sliding in some new fuel here & there as well. being that i'm always listening to some music in some way, it is extremely difficult not to come up w/new ideas. inspiration is a great thing. being inspired & doing nothing w/it is not...

so on that note, here is a vid w/some fresh Diesel Funkin' 10 fuel...

this is straight out of the Refinery. no Pipeline. no Raw Fuel III...

hip-hop is nowhere near being dead. in most cases, popular media is not the place to find what is living...

popular media is usually stuck in catch up mode. do the work. get at the music's foundation...

this is where hip-hop lives...

the list...2000...

over the next few days i will post the albums from the list of hip-hop releases between '00-09. as stated previously this is not an all inclusive list. it consists predominently of artists i dig &/or have heard of. i guarantee there are artists & albums missing. it is not at all personal...

i came up 300+ albums from the period. that's about 30 albums per year on average. some artists have been quite consistent during the time period w/releasing multiple albums. if hip-hop is dead, no one told these people...

[NOTE: i am updating this entire list as artists & albums are discovered. this will result in changes over time.]

here are the '00 albums:
  • 2000 - DJ Honda
  • Accepted Eclectic - Aceyalone
  • All Love - D.I.T.C.
  • AOI: Mosaic Thump - De La Soul

if you are not familiar w/any of these albums, do something about it. if you dig what you experience, support the artist...support hip-hop!

the dilemma of duality...

what is a hater?

i like this question. hater is an abused label. there are always some around trying to tear down what others do, but where is the line drawn? at what point does thinking critically go so wrong that it becomes that useless expression of hate?

i've heard many artists over the years complain about critics. i don't have a problem w/critics. this isn't because i think they do a great job. some critics do. some people know how to explain clearly what it is that they experience after being exposed to some new media.

IMO that's all a critic is really for: describing their personal experience of being exposed to new media (the media form is not really relevant).

why would i have a problem w/that? the problem really seems to be that other humans refuse to do the job themselves. i look at reviews all the time. i've found over the years that i generally do not agree w/many critics.

take video media. i dig action films. they rarely get nominated for Oscars for the actual film. sometimes they might get 1 for technical aspects of the film, but the actors pretty much never get nominated for their roles in action films. does that mean they are not worthy? what is it exactly that they're not worthy of?

IMO that's box thinking. where i am there is no box. if you like the box, you can stay in it & let others define your boundaries. i like the places where i go, so boxes don't work for me unless i'm moving from a house or whatever.

to answer the original question, someone who is apparently unwilling to provide an intelligent reason for their distaste w/an experience &/or person...

a critic is not necessarily a hater, & even if the person is, it only matters if people follow the critic blindly w/o thinking themselves.

i am not trying to appeal to people who are unwilling to think. in fact 1 of the primary goals of anything coming out of the Refinery is to create thought & dialogue...

a certain free dome...

for years i used to not write because i didn't have fresh beats to write to. no excuses. i just don't like hearing the same beats over & over again. the excitement of the dopeness of the track begins to wear away for me over time.

1 of the main reason i keep so much music around self is because of this aspect of my person. i don't know how other peeps write, but i've always written rather profusely. i can be spurty w/it, but when it starts it takes on it's own life.

The Refinery has me in a very unique artistic place right now. not only can i write at will, i can provide my own fuel for crafting now. i've always enjoyed the studio environment. being able to work & build my own is a very rewarding experience. even more rewarding is having the access to creative resources that i now have.

realizing life goals is very empowering...

i was not supposed to make any new fuel until i finished organizing the office. since i tricked self into making new fuel & i have been writing a lot lately, i sat down this AM & put the new fuel on loop in Winamp. the result is now up on FB in the notes...

hold on tight

if you do not stop self, there really isn't much else within the universe that can...

gardening the state of elevation...

i am most def looking forward to the show tomorrow night. i don't care how old i get, if i can move, i'm going to live shows.

those of us who truly l-ve the culture as fans, craftspeople, or both will serve the interest of the culture best by supporting the efforts of veteran hip-hop acts. the idea that artists simply fall off due to age is essentially intellectually deficient.

most of the artists i knew & respected when i 1st began to pursue my goals as an artist were older than i was. now there are more cats of various ages rocking. although some artists are my age & younger, it still comes down to the vets for supporting the core of the culture.

remember, it is the veterans who pass the torch to those who come behind. they light the way. if cats are still building on the solid foundation that they created, who is to say that they should stop at some arbitrary age?

tell that to all the vets in any other genre you choose to consider. veteran cats are still on tour, releasing albums, & generally smashing the genre of their choice. how is hip-hop any different?

no disrespect to newer/younger artists, but com'on folks...stop trippin'...

respect due!

digital networking...

when i 1st graduated from HS i was involved w/an organization called INROADS. at the time i was a comp sci major & ended up w/an internship w/Prudential Insurance at their Eastern Home Office (EHO). i don't think people called it a campus, but that's essentially what the facility was. great office building. the cafeteria was 1 of the nicest i've ever seen, but this was not a great career choice for me.

i knew pretty quickly that being a systems analyst &/or a programmer was not what i was trying to do until i earned a watch, fountain pen set, plaque, etc. i changed my major to communications. as a result i was no longer a good fit for the INROADS program. the organization essentially promoted the study of technical & scientific fields. i was dissapointed, but i learned a very important lesson through my involvement in the program:

YOU CANNOT SLEEP ON NETWORKING WHEN CONDUCTING BUSINESS!

ever since then i have made sure to take advantage of as many opportunities to network as possible. when it comes to most career fields, it is usually far more important who you know as opposed to what you know. if you can get both going & maintain focus on goals, great things can be expected to be acheived. this is why i use facebook, twitter, myspace, soundcloud, ustream, etc.

i'm on a mission...

gotta luv the new media...

as i keep saying, i'm on a mission.

'10 is for organizing & building at the moment. my incentive for self is to organize the office better before i create any new audio for Diesel Funkin '10. i didn't even work up the cover (color scheme) for '10 yet...

not feeling too kosher at the moment, so i'm taking some time to check out the twitter peeps & see watis.

just found out from FB about mp3tweet, so...

DieselF - Lorgieamost

...is the official test subject...

check out Agallah Don Bishop on FB (i got the mp3tweet site from his FB feed)! thanks...

now back to my irregularly scheduled health disturbance...
